Lorna Thomas-Farquharson won her first term on the Board of Education in 2017 and was named Vice Chair in 2019.
Dr. Thomas-Farquharson grew up on the South Shore of Massachusetts and attended Spelman College in Atlanta, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. She completed two years of clinical research at Boston University School of Medicine before moving to West Hartford in 2000 to further her education in psychology. She received her Master’s and Doctorate degrees in clinical psychology from the University of Hartford. Soon after, Lorna married her husband Jerome, who works in research and development in the field of material sciences.
Lorna and Jerome decided to remain in West Hartford due to its excellent school system and enjoyable quality of life. They have two daughters, Julianna and Gabrielle, both of whom are enrolled in the West Hartford Public Schools.
