The silent protest held in front of West Hartford Town Hall last month was so successful that the group “We the People for Democracy and Fight Against Injustice and Inequality” will be holding another one on Saturday, October 3, at Wolcott Park near the bus stop shelter on New Britain Avenue. Weather permitting, the one-hour silent vigil will begin at 11:00 AM.
Like the previous event, which drew twice as many people as expected, organizers Gail Crockett and Rosemarie Tate said protesters will hold signs with names of those killed by police in the last two years as well as victims of racial killings like Emmitt Till, Medgar Evers, and others.
Participants should wear masks and practice social distancing. Parking is available in the lot near the tennis courts around the corner (off Chatfield Drive), or in the lot off Wolcott Road.
