The West Hartford Democratic Town Committee held several historic online conventions Tuesday evening to nominate Democratic candidates for State Senate and State Representative for the coming fall election in November.
State Senator Derek Slap was nominated by the WHDTC, in partnership with their sister DTCs in Bloomfield, Burlington and Farmington, to run for the 5th Senate District. His campaign is located at https://slapforsenate.com/
Sherry Haller, a resident of West Hartford in the Buena Vista neighborhood, was nominated to run for the 20th State Representative seat being vacated by Joe Verrengia. Haller has served as the president of the local Property Owners Association for 10 years and as Executive Director of the Justice Education Center, a statewide nonprofit organization dedicated to community safety and justice reform for more than 40 years. State Representative Jillian Gilchrest was nominated by the WHDTC to run for the 18th State House seat that represents the West Hartford voting regions of Bristow, King Phillip and West Hartford town hall. This is her campaign’s Facebook page.
All three will be joining State Representative Tammy Exum of the 18th District, covering the west side of West Hartford and parts of Avon, on the Democratic ballots this November. The West Hartford Democratic Town Committee, chaired by John Bailey and Tiffani McGinnis, went thru extensive planning to ensure that all conventions were inclusive and open to everyone.
